The Headies 2019: Burna Boy, Teni lead Nomination List

The Headies, known as the most prestigious music award show in Nigeria, has released the list of nominees for its 13th edition themed ‘The Power of A Dream’. Nominations were opened on September 21, 2019 with 29 categories announced but with the announcement for nominees, only 23 categories were released. Categories like Best Reggae/Dancehall, Best Alternative Album, Best R&B Single, Best Songwriter and two others were cut.

Iconic Nigerian singers, Burna Boy, Teni and Adekunle Gold top list of nominees for the 2019 Headies’ Award. According to the organiser, the names were released after shortlisting of thousands of entries submitted in the year under review (from January 2018 – June 2019).
Rema, Burna Boy, Joeboy and Fireboy will battle for viewers choice award this year alongside song of the year category.
Below is the list of the nominees:

A non-voting category for the best recording (that meets the judges’ requirements of excellence; songwriting, production, rendition) by an artiste or group in the year under review.
