Mergan Markle and Prince Harry are undoubtedly in a joyous mood as they welcome their baby girl. The Duchess of Sussex welcomed the couple’s second child on Friday, making them a family of four.

“It is with great joy that Prince Harry and Meghan, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, welcome their daughter, Lilibet “Lili” Diana Mountbatten-Windsor, to the world,” read a statement from the couple released on Sunday.

Lil was delivered on Friday, June 4 at 11:40am at the Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital in Santa Barbara, California. She weighed 7 lbs. 11 oz. Both mother and child are healthy and well, and settling in at home,” the statement continued. “Lili is named after her great-grandmother, Her Majesty The Queen, whose family nickname is Lilibet. Her middle name, Diana, was chosen to honor her beloved late grandmother, The Princess of Wales.”

This cheering news means that the couple’s first child and son, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, who was delivered in 2019 will become a ‘big brother’ and that Meghan will now be able to bequeath the special heirloom she has always kept for her future daughter.

In a 2015 interview with Hello magazine, the Duchess of Sussex revealed that she once splurged on a Cartier watch to celebrate her TV show Suits with the intention of turning it into a family heirloom. She further revealed that she had engraved on the back of the watch, “To M.M from M.M’ and she plans to give it to her daughter one day. For Meghan, it’s a beautiful dream come true!

Meghan’s pregnancy was announced on valentine’s day through a photo that was taken remotely via iPad by their friend and longtime photographer, Misan Harriman. In it, Harry, though barefooted, wore a smile and looks lovingly at Meghan, who cradles her baby bump as she rests in his lap.

During the couple’s sit-down interview with Oprah Winfrey in March, they revealed that they were expecting a baby girl. They also shared they won’t have any more children following their baby girl’s arrival: “Two is it.”

The happy news came after Meghan revealed she suffered a miscarriage last July.
