It is official!
The Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival has announced the dates for the 20th anniversary , set to happen on April 12-14 and April 19-21 at the Empire Polo Club in Indio.
Interestingly, two Nigerian singers have been shortlisted to appear at this grand event – Daminu Ogulu popularly known as Burna Boy and Tosin Ajibade known as Mr Eazi will be performing at the year’s event alongside international artistes Ariana Grande, Childish Gambino , Kid Cudi, Whiz Khalifa, Zedd and a host of others.
Serving as their debut performance at this grand event for the duo, many Nigerians and lovers of the Arts consider this a redemptive feat for the country, having lost face in 2018 when popular artist -Whizkid failed to show up at Coachella 2018 on the grounds of Visa issues for his crew. Whizzkid was to perform alongside Beyonce; and has since been criticized all over the media for lack of discipline and priorities.
Earlier in the year, Burna Boy took to his Instagram took to his social media, criticizing the Coachella crew for the way his name was written on the poster.

“Coachella I appreciate you. But I don’t appreciate the way my name is written so small in your bill,” Burna Boy wrote in an Instagram live screen-grabbed by press. “I am an AFRICAN GIANT [sic] and will not be reduced to whatever that tiny writing means. Fix tings quick please.”

But this comment met a quick death after being shunned by his Nigerian fans for an overinflated ego,and has since directed his energy into publicity for his Coachella performance in April this year.

Indeed Coachella is a big deal for many upcoming artistes, especially artistes outside the popular genre of music – to receive international acknowledgement and expand their fanbase, even for US artists.
