MODINAT OLOMU EMERGES AS WINNER OF CULINARY COMPETITION

After the bonfire on Saturday, March 5, 2022, the Alexander Brown Hall week continued with a culinary competition. The competition was in two categories: the cooking category and the baking category. Each contestant bought a form and were given a list of ingredients to bring along. There were four contestants in the cooking category and one contestant in the baking category. The four contestants in the category were Modinat Olomu(MBBS 2k19), Anjolaoluwa Taiwo(BMLS 2k18), Temabor Akemu(MBBS 2k18) and Chioma Muotoh(MBBS 2k18). The only contestant in the baking category was Ipede Pelumi(MBBS 2k18). The competition was sponsored by Prestige, Fanawole, Oothecae Dataworld, Teeannze’s Kitchen, Aina Pasta, Ose olorun food canteen, Chopright, Bimbus cakes, Aunty Toyin phone accessories.


The competition started by 4:50pm and was anchored by Rockson. Miss Happiness Bello, Miss Nifemi and Mr Malik Ayodele were the judges of the competition. The defending champion, Bianca Offorbuike, was also present. The contestants were given extra ingredients like spaghetti, pineapple, cucumber, plantain, green pepper and carrots and were given an hour and thirty minutes to cook and present their dishes.

When they were all done, the judges tasted and commented on their meals. The criteria for judging each meal for the cooking category were taste, appearance, presentation, organization and consistency of food. The scores of the cooking category were :

Contestant 1 (Modinat Olomu)- 39.83/45
Contestant 2 (Anjolaoluwa Taiwo)- 35.33/45
Contestant 3 (Temabor Akemu)- 35.33/45
Contestant 4 (Chioma Muotoh)-38.33/45

With this, Modinat Olomu won the competition and Chioma Muotoh was the first runner-up. Brownites were present and it was fun for everyone that came out to watch breakfast being served. Also, prizes were won by the contestants. The winner of the baking category won a sum of ten thousand naira while the winner for the cooking category won ten thousand naira, AirPods and food voucher from Chopright. The second position for the category won seven thousand naira and a food ticket from Teeannze’s Kitchen while the third position won five thousand naira and a pack of Sumal foods.
