After a very long hiatus from competitive sports, the Alexander Brown Hall football teams are back in training and ready to compete in the Inter-hall sports competition. The competition, which is slated to begin on the 3rd of September, makes up part of the activities for the UISU WEEK 2021.

Speaking with Adejumo Sheriff, the head coach of the male football team, he confirmed that Alexander Brown Hall is set to play against Tedder Hall on Saturday, 4th September 2021 in a knock-out round. He raised injury and fatigue concerns as some of the players on the team will be involved in training sessions for their respective faculties in preparation for the inter-faculty games scheduled to begin next week. Despite the tight schedule, he believes the team will turn up against Tedder Hall and progress to the next round of the competition.

The female team is the more fired up of the two football teams with back-to-back training sessions in the past week. Despite the team size, efforts put into the team is highly commendable and should be encouraged. The team has been dormant for a while but a lot of changes have been put in place under the leadership of head coach Oyebamiji Toba. ABHPress met with Toba who expressed the need for more interested Brownites to join the female football team. He stated that the team has about 10 players, which is not even up to the expected number of 11 players to make up a team. He made a call for female Brownites who enjoy playing football to be a part of the team and help the team to victory in the upcoming inter-hall games. Alexander Brown Hall prepares to face Awo Hall on a date that is yet to be released.

All interested Brownites who want to join either the male or female football teams should contact the head coach of the respective team.
