OSHIOMHOLE NOT REGARDED A MEMBER OF HIS OWN PARTY SAYS OBASEKI

Following the crises rocking the All Progressive Congress’ camp in Edo State, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, the Edo State Governor has stated that Mr. Adams Oshiomhole, the former governor and the National President of APC is not a member of the party – his own party.
This was stated during a rally of the APC members from some local governments of the State earlier on Thursday. He further stated that President Muhammadu Buhari has directed them to deal with Oshiomhole and the pro-Oshiomhole Edo Progressive Movement on grounds of anti-party activities.
All efforts to reconcile the warring factions have proven abortive as Governor Obaseki rejected a peace committee constituted by the APC National Working Committee in November. His rejection of the committee was because it was to be headed by the Kano State governor, Abdullahi Ganduje who has ties with Oshiomhole.
In a similar vein, the 10-man committee to be headed by the Senate President, Dr. Ahmed Lawan was rejected by Obaseki on the grounds of the leadership of the National Assembly playing a role in the crisis.
Reacting however, Washington Osifo, the leader of the 14 lawmakers-elect of the State House of Assembly has said the Governor should be ignored. He asserted that the statement made by Obaseki was “the most irresponsible” he had ever heard.
“It is the most irresponsible statement I have heard from anyone who parades himself as a leader.”
He further stated that the President would never support an unpopular statement from an unpopular leader. “Obaseki is a liar as that can never be the language of Mr President. The President is the man that will talk about unity and cohesion.”
Meanwhile, earlier this week, Adams Oshiomhole rejected Christmas gifts from Edo State Government as disclosed in a statement by Mr Crusoe Osage, the Special Adviser to Edo State Governor on Media, NAN reports.
