MOVIES TO LOOK OUT FOR IN DECEMBER

It’s the holidays! This year has been particularly spectacular. The pandemic affected logistics and some movies slated to come out a year ago hit the cinemas this year. December is no different, the Oscar eligibility window closes at the end of December, hence film distributors are rushing to put their most impressive films and performers in the spotlight. Hence, I will be sharing with you a list of movies to look out for this December
1. Last Shoot Out
The Last shoot out depicts a Western saga of love, betrayal and revenge. The story is that of a newlywed woman Jocelyn who gets to know that her husband Jody (Michael Welch) had been the shooter of her father. She flees from the Callahan ranch and is rescued by Billy Tyson, a gunman who safe guards her at a remote outpost as he repels Jody’s attempts to reclaim his bride. The movie was directed by Michael Feifer and produced by Milestone studios. It will be released on December 3 (today), so watch out for it.
2. Spider Man: No Way Home
Just when it looked like Holland’s Spider-Man would leave the MCU, Marvel Studios and Disney have struck a new deal with Sony Pictures for their upcoming third solo movie. Spiderman: No way home is prepared to be one of the biggest movies of the year upon it’s release in December. The movie will pick up from Spiderman: Far from home which was released in 2019 and ended with Peter being outed to the world as Spider-Man by J. Jonah Jameson (J.K. Simmons) and being framed for the murder of Mysterio (Jake Gyllenhaal). It will feature a prominent Marvel hero, this time Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange. Five villains from past Spidey franchises, including Doc Ock, Green Goblin, Electro, Sandman (played in by Thomas Haden Church in Spider-Man 3) and Lizard (played by Rhys Ifans in The Amazing Spider-Man). The movie would be returning Peter Parker’s best friend Ned Leeds (Jacob Batalon), girlfriend MJ (Zendaya), Aunt May (Marisa Tomei) and friend Happy Hogan (Jon Favreau). It is set to be released by December 17.
3. The King’s man
The King’s man is an actionspy movie to be released in December. The movie is directed by Matthew Vaughn from a screenplay by Vaughn and Karl Gajdusek and a story by Vaughn. Upon it’s release, it will be the third installment in the Kingsman film series, prior to this has been 2014’s Kingsman: The Secret Service and 2017’s Kingsman: The Golden Circle.
Based on the comic book The Secret Service by Mark Millar and Dave Gibbons, it tells a story of a collection of history’s worst tyrants and criminal masterminds who gather to plot a war to wipe out millions, one man and his protégé must race against time to stop them.
It is scheduled to be released on 22 December 2021 in RealD 3D by 20th Century Studios. It’s release was delayed several times from November 2019 partially due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

4. Sherlock Holmes 3

Sherlock Holmes was first released in 2009 featuring Robert Downey Jr. who is now well known as Tony Stark a.k.a Iron man as Sir Arthur Conan Doyle – Sherlock Holmes a fictional detective referring to himself as a “consulting detective” known for his proficiency with observation, deduction, forensic science, and logical reasoning.

It starred Jude Law as Sherlock’s best friend and assistant – Dr John Watson. Upon it’s release, the film won the Golden globe.
Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows followed in 2011.
Viewers expected a sequel after Game of Shadows but until now and many thought that will be the end of the movie series. Alas! After many years, the movie Sherlock Holmes will hit the theaters by December 22, 2021.

The script for Sherlock Holmes 3 is penned by Chris Brancato, the co-creator of Netflix’s popular crime drama “Narcos,” and co-creator of Epix’s own crime series, “Godfather of Harlem.”

The first movie shows Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson (Jude Law) battling mystical would-be world dominator Lord Henry Blackwood (played by Mark Strong). Sherlock Holmes 2 brought us Sherlock’s arch-nemesis Professor James Moriarty (Jared Harris). However, the plot for Sherlock Holmes 3 is yet to be revealed.

Nollywood also has something big for us this December as Kunle Afolayan is set to release his second film of 2021, following the release of ‘Swallow’. In his words “it feels good to be back in London and to see and work with Jason again. Something big big is coming to your screen in December,” Afolayan wrote on his official Instagram page.
