Be calm! There’s no need to loose your cool, yet. But it is possible that the ABC’s colossal series – Grey’s Anatomy might be nearing her end. Although the series does not look like it is ready to end, after renewing for its 15th season – it does not mean that leading star, Ellen Pompeo (Meredith Grey) may want to continue with the juggernaut series.

“I’m clearly not prepared right now to make any formal announcement about what my future is on the show, but I am really feeling like we have told the majority of the stories that we can tell,” Pompeo told Entertainment Weekly. “It’s about time that I mix it up. I’m definitely looking for a change.”

But not to worry, Ellen’s contract renewal ensures her participation up till season 16, after signing the deal in January- so her departure is not imminent! But the truth is – Will the world of GREY’S Anatomy still stand after the departure of Meredith Grey?

To more interesting news – Grey’s Anatomy‘s two-hour premiere airs Thursday, Sept. 27 at 8/7c on ABC.
It’s generally business as usual at Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital, so Ellen Pompeo (Meredith Gray), Justin Chambers (Alex Karev), Chandra Wilson (Miranda Bailey), James Pickens Jr (Richard Webber), Kevin McKidd (Owen Hunt), Jesse Williams (Jackson Avery), Caterina Scorsone (Amelia Shepherd), Camilla Luddington (Jo Wilson), Kelly McCreary (Maggie Pierce) and Giacomo Gianniotti (Andrew DeLuca) will all be back.

It’s also been confirmed that Kim Raver is coming back as a series regular in season 15 after the finale cliffhanger that saw Teddy Altman reveal she was pregnant, as well as getting the job of interim chief after Miranda decides to take a sabbatical.

“Returning to Shondaland with the incredibly talented Krista Vernoff, Ellen Pompeo, and the amazing cast is heavenly,” Raver enthused. “I have a special place in my heart for Teddy and feel very lucky to have the opportunity to continue her story.”

Grey Sloan will also be welcoming a new face as Nashville star Chris Carmack has joined the cast as an orthopaedic surgeon so skilled that he’s been called an “ortho god” by his colleagues.

If you’re still holding out hope that Scott Speedman will return as Dr Nick Marsh, he’s confirmed that he’s unlikely to return anytime soon: “I don’t know. Probably not. Sorry.”

The new season will see Meredith go through a personal arc that involves her family background after Pompeo spoke about not wanting all of “Meredith’s adventures to be romantic ones”.

“Meredith [is going to] have a new trajectory that is more focused on who she is as a single mother and surgeon [including her investigation] into a medical condition that is very close to her own family background and history,” ABC entertainment president Channing Dungey explained.

However, Meredith WILL have a love interest as she’ll be a part of what showrunner Krista Vernoff is dubbing the “Season of Love”.

“Yes, [Meredith]’s a single mom, and that complicates a dating life. And yes, she’s a surgical marvel with new, game-changing medical ideas she’ll be pursuing. But she also hasn’t dated at all since Nathan Riggs left. And the one-two punch of meeting Nick Marsh awoke a desire in her that she can’t put back to sleep,” she teased.

“The question this season is not, ‘Will Meredith Grey find love again?’, but ‘With whom will she find love?’.”

Away from Meredith and Teddy’s full-time return is going to be “complicated”, according to Kevin McKidd, especially as she’s now carrying his child.
