As the ASUU strike continues, the national leadership of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, has conducted a referendum to decide whether to suspend the ongoing 3-month strike or not. Each zonal coordinator was directed to conduct the referendum based on the offers of the federal government.

According to the official Twitter account of the association, results at the zonal Congress showed that majority of the members voted for the continuation of the strike because they doubted government’s sincerity in fulfilling its new promises. Therefore , ASUU strike continues.

This update comes after the Minister of Education promised earlier last week that the strike will be called off by Monday, 4th February.
