The media and members of the public were taken by surprise on Thursday, May 27, 2021 as the serving minister of transportation was seen in a video with his wife, Judith and a live band singing a gospel song; an adaptation from the book of Psalms.
The song, titled ‘Blessed People the Lord Has Chosen as His Heritage’, was reportedly done in commemoration of the Minister’s 56th birthday celebration and at a place that looked like Amaechi’s living room. The music video was produced by Obliblo music and in this song, Amaechi and his wife sing about God’s faithfulness in their family. “Blessed people the Lord has chosen as his heritage. The word of the Lord is faithful and all his works to be trusted. The Lord loves justice and right and his merciful love fills the earth,” they sing.
The music video has however generated a lot of buzz on social media, with majority of the comments expressing surprise and shock:

This is not the first time a thing like this this will be happening in Nigeria with Amaechi only following the footsteps of a popular former Senator from the Kogi west senatorial district, Dino Melaye. In 2017, Melaye came under attack for featuring in the music video of a song titled ‘Dino’ by rap artiste Kash that depicted his lavish lifestyle. Dino Melaye is fond of posting pictures of his luxurious vehicles and house on his social media handles and the former member of the 8th Nigerian National has also been reported to be joining the Nollywood industry.
Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi is the serving minister of communication under the present administration of President Mohammadu Buhari. Prior to his ministerial appointment, he had served as a two-term speaker of the Rivers’ state House of Assembly between 1999 and 2007 and Governor of the oil-rich Rivers State between 2007 and 2015. He was also very instrumental to the election campaign that coasted Buhari to victory in 2015, as he served as the Governor, Buhari Campaign Organization.
Amaechi tied the knot with Judith in 1993. The union has been blessed with three children — Obinna, Chimkamkpa, and Lemchi.
