“Stop; Drop; Roll!”: ABH Defence Ministry Organises Fire Drill
Another promise was checked off the list of promises by the Transcending Limits team on Friday as the Defence Ministry eventually pulled through with her fire drill exercise.
This is coming after challenges with the organisation of the exercise with the University of Ibadan Fire Service as the Defence Minister, Mr. Obinwanne, cited during the Press Conference marking the Team’s first 100 days in office.
The event which held at the Volley Ball Court included the display of video clips on responses to various scenarios of fire outbreak and the use of fire extinguishers stressing the acronym: PASS – Pull the pin, Aim the noozle, Squeeze the handle and Swee from side-to-side
“Stop; Drop; Roll” were other stand out action words in the drill as they express the actions to be taken when you are on fire.
There were a number of freebies to go along with answering questions and a game of the fastest fingers was played to the delight of the attendees.
The event then moved to the football field where live cases of fire were simulated and Brownites took turn to display their one-day mastery of the use of extinguishers.
The exercise was deemed necessary by the Defence Minister following incidences of fire outbreaks during the dry season in times past.
