MOVIES TO LOOK OUT FOR IN JULY
-By Tobi Caleb
In my opinion, this movie year has been good to us so far!
It gave us projects like 12 Strong, Black Panther, Red Sparrow, Game Night, Ready Player One, Deadpool 2, and The Avengers: Infinity War. These listed movies and lots more kept us at the edge of our seats, made us laugh, and served as a fleeting relief to our problems each time we indulged.
From the look of things, July is probably going to follow in suit. If you are the kind of person that looks forward to movie dates or the kind that enjoys going to the movies alone (P.S: this is underrated), I have some movies that would be fun to see on the big screen. If you are the kind of person that likes to watch movies in the comfort of your room, all I can say is that your time will come.
ANT-MAN AND THE WASP – JULY 6
Marvel studios are going to try to make movie freaks broke for the fourth time this year when this highly anticipatory movie comes out. The prequel was released in 2015 and it was a huge commercial success. It is an action packed superhero movie that has a touch of comedy and romance in it, what more could we ask for? I give this movie my stamp of approval but I suggest that you watch the prequel (The Ant-man) before watching it in order to enjoy every bit of it (I also find it disrespectful when people watch the sequel of movies without watching the first installment).
SKYSCRAPER – JULY 13
Dwayne Johnson (The Rock) returns to the big screen in this action packed drama where he plays the role of an FBI agent framed for a crime he didn’t commit. In the movie, he tries to clear his name, find the real perpetrators, and save his family all at the same time. So, this is a classic Dwayne Johnson movie. If you are a fan of “one man army” movies, I’ll suggest that you see this.
THE EQUALIZER 2 – JULY 20
In this movie, Denzel Washington reprises the ruthless role he played in the prequel that was released in 2014. In this movie, he uses his fists and the bullets from his guns to get justice for the weak and oppressed. If you were to look for the “goodhearted” type of John Wick, your compass would lead you straight to him. I’m looking forward to seeing this movie, you should too.
MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE – FALLOUT – JULY 27
Ethan Hunt is back again and he probably plans on doing something impossible in this 6th instalment. I’m sure you are probably thinking “when is this man going to die or retire?”, that’s the same thing is on my mind. The one thing I can promise you is that, there is going to be a lot of crazy stunts in this movie (In the fifth instalLment, he was on a plane in a scene. He was outside the plane, not inside). If you are a fan of the franchise, I don’t need to tell you why you should watch it; if you aren’t one, I can guarantee that the 147 minutes you’ll spend on this movie won’t be a waste.
There are also other highly anticipatory movies that will be released in July – Hotel Transylvania 3; The Nun; Mile 22; The First Purge.
Allow me to reiterate, July is going to be lit!
If you don’t plan on watching these movies in the cinema, well, October (or November) is going to be lit. Ciao!
