Get Ready for the Ultimate Battle of Wits: ABH LnD Set to Dominate Jaw War 2024
In less than 24 hours, the Alexander Brown Hall Literary and Debating Society (ABH LnD) will take the stage at the New Faculty Lecture Theatre (NFLT), University of Ibadan, for the highly anticipated Jaw War oratory contest.
This season’s edition, themed “Africa’s Travails and Triumphs: Moving Forward, Learning from the Past,” promises to be an exciting display of intellectual prowess, with seasoned speakers from ABH LnD set to deliver sound arguments, structured deliveries, and beautifully crafted speeches.
The contest, scheduled to run from 26th of November, 2024 to 8th of January, 2025, will feature both Hall and Faculty categories. The preliminary rounds kick off tomorrow, 26th of November, 2024, with the Hall Category. From the ABH LnD, two faculties (Clinical Sciences and Dentistry) and the Alexander Brown Hall, will be ably represented at Jaw War.
According to the society’s President, Oluwatosin Adedipe, preparations have been underway, and the team is confident in their abilities. “We have been preparing for five weeks now, and our speakers are ready. We’ve come together to write speeches and practice delivery under varying conditions.”
After narrowly missing the top spot in previous years, ABH LnD is determined to break the jinx and bring home the trophy this time. The society urges all Brownites to come out and support their representatives at the event. As President Adedipe noted, “Brownites can look forward to listening to captivating, educating, and entertaining speeches from our speakers.”
Regarding Brownites’ participation, attendance has been a challenge in previous seasons, largely due to distance and transportation costs. However, the society needs and appreciates the support of all Brownites especially their physical presence. Will you be there to cheer on your fellow Brownites?
For this week, the topics for the preliminary rounds include:
Hall Category (26/11/24):
