It was hosted by Regina King, Blake Lively, Ryan Reynolds, and Lin-Manuel Miranda while designer Tom Ford, Instagram’s Adam Mosseri, and Vogue’s Anna Wintour were honorary co-chairs.
The dress code was Gilded Glamour, white tie. Gilded Glamour takes its cue from Mark Twain and Charles Dudley Warner’s novel bearing same name. It chronicles the period between 1870 and 1900 during which the United States Civil War occurred. Gilded Glamour references the fashion of that era, where wealth and glamour were used to conceal the rampant social unrest. While white tie for men, refers to a look comprising a black tailcoat and trousers with a white shirt, vest and bow tie. The outfit, should be accented by white gloves. For women, white tie would mean a full-length evening gown, with long gloves optional.
American actress Blake Lively graced the red carpet with a rose gold dress, a long train and crown. She revealed that her outfit was inspired by the New York city architecture including classic structures such as the statue of liberty and Empire state building.
Kim Kardashian was donned in the Marilyn Monroe dress worn in 1962 to sing a happy birthday song for John F. Kennedy.
