Lion heart started showing on our screens some days before the new year, since then it has been immortalised by various movie freaks and critics.
The powerful performances displayed by Genevieve Nnaji and Nkem Owoh didn’t go unnoticed. There is no doubt that Lion heart is a good movie, Netflix also seems to think so.
The ace nollywood actress and producer in question just sold her recently released movie Lion Heart to movie site Netflix at N1,385,100,000 ($3.8 million).
This has made the actress become the first Nollywood billionaire.
The Nigerian actress took to Instagram to appreciate the support for Lion Heart, saying: “Thank you, everyone, for accepting @lionheartthemovie into your homes and your hearts. Worldwide. This is how we change the narrative. Together let us continue to bridge the gap.”
Lion Heart marks Genevieve Nnaji’s directorial debut, it stars icons like Phyno, Nkem Owoh, Peter Okoye(Psquare), Pete Edochie and Onyeka Onwenu.
However, it has been reported that Genevieve’s movie was not accepted in Cinemas due to alleged industry controversies.
Statement from the ‘Lion Heart’s team alleged that the “powers that be” (distribution companies) have refused to show the movie in their cinemas.
The statement further alleged that one of the major distributors, who had agreed to show the movie, backed out of the deal after being “arm-twisted”.
