Barely few hours after the presidential candidate of the Allied Congress Party of Nigeria, Obiageli Ezekwesili announced her withdrawal from the 2019 elections; the party has released a press statement to formally withdraw their support from the candidate.
Basing their withdrawal of support on the grounds of lack of concrete plans for the country, the party stated that Ezekwesili had secretly been lobbying for the position of Finance Minister for the 2019 Buhari Regime, using the party as a platform to achieving this.
They claimed that her aide – Iyinoluwa Aboyeji revealed this intention to them in confidence, which was no made known to them by the candidate prior.
Moving further,the party has declared their support for Buhari in the upcoming 2019 elections stating “It is on this ground that the ACPN is withdrawing support for her presidential aspiration and endorsing the second term bid of President Muhammadu Buhari to take Nigeria to the next level”
