ABH Hall Assembly Ratifies Electoral Commission, Sets Election Day for April 19
The Alexander Brown Hall Assembly Meeting, held via Google Meet on Friday, 21st March 2025, ratified the Electoral Commission and its budget of ₦99,487.50, setting key election dates, including Election Day on Saturday, 19th April 2025. The meeting also addressed electoral processes, eligibility criteria, and accommodations for floor representatives and concluded with the presentation of the Press Night budget.
During the meeting, which began at 4 p.m., Esther Olaoye, Chairman of the Electoral Commission, presented the commission’s budget, emphasizing the importance of financial compliance and stating that only Brownites meeting these standards are eligible to contest. Assembly members engaged in discussions focused on ensuring a smooth electoral process, with the Honorable Michael Paul notably raising concerns about accommodations for floor representatives.
The Speaker of the hall assembly, Rt. Hon. Goodluck Omotayo, noted that the ban on election activities was scheduled to be lifted on Sunday, 23rd March, 2025.
The meeting further underscored the assembly’s commitment to constitutional adherence, with significant deliberations on electoral processes and eligibility criteria. Tomiwa Komolafe, ABH Press Editor-in-Chief, presented the Press Night budget, which was ultimately deemed inadequate and postponed for further reworking.
