Mirror, mirror on the wall!

I love mirrors. I love the mirror’s ability to reflect without bias. Loving a mirror is good, seeing a reflection is even better and loving the reflection from the mirror is the best. The mirror includes but is not limited to the typical glass coated with amalgam. The mirror stands for any object like the mind which avails us the opportunity to stop and reflect on our being.

When you look in the mirror, who do you see? Do you recognize yourself or do you see parents and the society? Do you even know what you should look like? It’s not prodigious that you see fragments of different opinions imposed on your person which may not depict you. We all grew up being told what to do, what to wear, what to say with little or no opportunity for self expression. It takes courage to not be a labrador retriever, docile and allowing opinions and suggestions on what to do with our own lives to be shoved down our throats. I believe that it is not possible for the opinion of others not to form a part of our person for man is a social animal. However, it is important that these opinions only become a part and not the entirety of our person.

When you look in the mirror, do you like what you see? Mirrors often show us things we don’t like, things we hate about ourselves that only our eyes see. In the event that you do not like what you see in the mirror, remember that what you see in the mirror is a unique human being with a set of characteristics that no one else in the world has or will have. Why would you want to hate something that makes you special in this lacklustre world? When you look in the mirror, remember that you have a voice to speak, a story that the mirror cannot tell in its entirety. When the mirror reflects a weak image, remember that never has an object exercised greater power than the human mind. Strong is not measured by force but by love. The love you give yourself will make you strong.
