ABH WARDEN’S CHALLENGE 2019, OLAITAN EMERGES WINNER

PLT, UCH – In line with the 60th anniversary of the Alexander Brown Hall, Wednesday April 24, played host to the grand finale of the ABH Warden’s Challenge.
The biggest oratory competition in the hall named in honour of the Warden, had her 4th edition with six of the hall’s speakers who had emerged from the preliminaries battling for the title of “The Last Pharoah”
The competition which saw 13 participants at the preliminary event on March 23 -was narrowed to six finalists for the grand finale
Speaking on the topic “Business in Healthcare: A choice or necessity?” the contestants were: Jumoke (400L Physiotherapy), Olufemi Olayinka (400L BMLS), Ugo Osoeze (400L Physiotherapy), Olaitan Adeshina (400L Physiotherapy), Chinedu Nwaduru (600L Medicine and Surgery) and Benjamin (400L Physiotherapy)
Seating on the panel to judge the competition was the Chief Judge, Dr. Isaac Olufadewa with the assistant judges – Dr. Busayo Omotosho and Dr. Ayodeji Adedeji -all of whom were award winning public speakers.
After a session of speakers delivering their prepared speeches for 5minutes followed by impromptus for a minute – two speakers, Chinedu and Olaitan tied in first place, with an impromptu tie-breaker which saw Olaitan emerge as winner defeating Chinedu with a narrow margin of 0.11
Ugo Osoeze followed in third place. It was indeed an exciting event for those present – with friends and colleagues from various departments coming to cheer their preferred speaker to victory.
Present at the event was Ms Roseben Anyanwu, the immediate winner of the competition who came to share her victory experience as well as Ms Toluwalase Akinluyi who was the 2nd runner up at the 3rd edition of the competition.
